Our Fundamental Convictions

We believe that there is a gap between who we are and who we want to be (who God wants us to be).   God designed the Church to help people narrow that gap and discover their destiny as His Children. Although we fall short of God’s design (sin), we can be forgiven, restored, and grow to become reflections of God’s goodness and power in this world.

  1. We believe that inspired teaching is the primary catalyst for growth and positive life-change.
Therefore:
We take Sunday mornings very seriously, regular attendance is expected.
We offer a variety of classes at a variety of dates and times.
We offer conferences, workshops and seminars
We have an audio tape ministry and a library
We are not afraid to lovingly challenge people

  1. We believe that people matter to God, and therefore ought to matter to the Church
Therefore:
We encourage people to learn how to build healthy relationships
We recognize that we are in the “people business” not the “religion business”
We strongly emphasize small groups for fellowship, support, and relationships
We strive to reach out to people in their times of pain and need

  1. We believe that the Church should be culturally relevant, but doctrinally faithful.
Therefore:
We teach and proclaim that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life
We relate the truths of the Bible to everyday life
We offer different styles of worship for different types of people
We communicate in everyday, ordinary language
We use the tools of modern technology to proclaim timeless truth

  1. We believe that the Church should operate as a unified community of servants who develop and deploy their spiritual gifts to the glory of God.
Therefore:
We teach about spiritual gifts
We help people discover their spiritual gifts
We create opportunities for people to develop and use their spiritual gifts
The Pastor and staff train and equip the laity for the work of ministry
We expect members to be involved in some form of service

  1. We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people
Therefore:
We are not neurotic perfectionists, but we do expect people to give God their best
We are a “high commitment” Church
We celebrate accomplishment and learn from disappointment
We strive to keep our facilities in excellent condition
We strive to keep our ministry staff committed and motivated to excellence
We work to encourage, thank, recognize and reward those who volunteer to serve in our ministries.

  1. We believe that the Church is worth significant financial commitment
Therefore:
We encourage tithing
We teach about financial stewardship
We take an offering every Sunday as an act of worship
We conduct a Pledge campaign every year
We conduct a Capital funds Campaign every three years
We maintain strict financial guidelines and keep excellent records

  1. We believe that Jesus changes lives through relationships and experiences.
Therefore:
We offer experiences that are inspiring and challenging
We bathe all that we do in prayer
We challenge people to get out of their comfort zones
We provide opportunities for relationships to be formed
We expect our leaders to be highly committed
