I Am the Gate
At the beginning of John’s Gospel, John the Baptizer, identifies Jesus as “the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus’ identity is further explained. Jesus is the lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, and the Gate. Jesus as The Gate is the embodiment of God’s saving love sent into the world. Jesus has come so that, we might have life and have it abundantly. Jesus is The Gate, the only way to life, new life, and life in abundance.
