Genuis Within Us

Keith Priest   -

One of the things that we can draw strength from in our relationship with God is the fact that He loves us too much to leave us where we are. This holds true not only in the valleys but also in the mountain top experiences of life. God consistently calls us into deeper waters, challenging us never to be content with the status quo, to truly think beyond our capabilities.

During the Global Leadership Summit in August, a speaker named Erwin McManus offered that each one of us has genius within us. Often the only thing keeping that genius from coming out is our own fear or perceived limitations. That is such a profound statement and something that I have seen play out in numerous conversations and at various points in my own life. Fear that I may fail as I try to accomplish something spectacular prevents me from engaging.

Genesis teaches us that the very God who created everything in existence from nothing, created us in His image, then breathed the breath of life into each of His children. This fact alone speaks volumes to the true nature of God’s connection in each of us at the core of who we are. We have genius in us because He created it within each of us, a gift passed down from our loving Father. To expound on this thought even more, Jesus teaches in John that we would be blessed with the Holy Spirit. In his letter to the Romans, Paul explains that the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in each of us, and that we have internal and eternal connections with God Himself, made possible through His Spirit.

How could the acknowledgement of the God-given genius within you enable you to view your challenges and your successes differently? How can you truly use ALL your gifts to reflect His love and His light into this world?
