Afghan Family Support
Ebenezer is part of a local effort to assist Afghan refugee families as they resettle in Stafford County. In association with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Worship Watch initiative, we are working with area churches to furnish living spaces and meet basic needs for families. We’re looking for a core group of committed volunteers who are willing to walk alongside families as they become acclimated to our community. Can you help?
- If you are able to give of your time, we need volunteers to drive refugee family members to and from appointments, school, and grocery shopping.
- If you are able to donate furnishings or equipment, we could use queen-size bed frames, single bed frames, dressers, dining tables and chairs, televisions, computers, and tablets.
- If you are proficient in any Afghan languages, we would love to put your skills to work.
**We’re also looking for used vehicles for families to use. If you have a vehicle you are willing to donate (or sell at a moderate price), please email Regester Chapel UMC at [email protected] or call 540-659-2642. Donated vehicles will be eligible for tax deduction following IRS guidance.**
