Cold Weather Shelter Homeless Ministry

Each winter, Micah Ministries hosts a Cold Weather Shelter with help from a cohort of local churches. The shelter is open nightly from mid-November through mid-March based on weather guidelines. It provides a safe place for homeless men and women who would otherwise be sleeping outside in freezing temperatures. Clients are bused from Micah Ministries in Fredericksburg to the Cold Weather Shelter, which is located at 750 Kings Highway in Stafford. The 3,000 square foot shelter offers separate dorms for men and women, three bathrooms, a small kitchen, a gathering/intake area, and a handicapped sleeping space.

Ebenezer will provide 4-5 adult volunteers on the first two Saturdays of each month from 5:30-8:00 PM. Volunteers help everyone get checked in for the evening by greeting clients, setting up cots, and providing light snacks and fellowship. It is a tangible way to serve those in need in your community and make meaningful connections over time.
